The University of Idaho women's rugby team, better known as the Black Widows, competes against other college and women's teams in the Pacific Northwest. Starting in 2012 we are very excited to announce that we have joined the Cascade Collegiate Women's Rugby Conference as a Division II team and will be competing with 6 teams in the pacific northwest. We play year-round 15's contact rugby. New ruggers are always invited to join us on the pitch anytime. We participate in various regional tournaments including Foolsfest, Kootenai Cup, Babsfest, Flamesfest, and Maggotfest. Our season runs from September to November and from January to May.
Interested in playing? We are always looking for more players, so join us on the pitch anytime. The Women's Rugby team is a a dynamic group of women who love having fun, challenging themselves, and working and playing hard. You must be an enrolled student at the University of Idaho to participate and no experience is needed. We will teach you the basics of tackling, passing, and kicking. Rugby is a sport for all shapes and sizes, and there is a position for everyone. It is a great way to get out and meet new people while kicking butt at the same time! The cost is minimal at $50/semester in dues and the only equipment needed is a mouthguard and cleats.
